The battle of becoming the number one auto maker in the luxury car segment of the Indian auto market is getting more and more intense by the day. And interestingly, it is three German auto manufacturers who are competing for the top spot, trying to overtake each other by employing new strategies and launching new vehicles. Leading the charge and attempting its resurgence in the Indian car market is Mercedes-Benz, who has already launched a number of models, such as GL-Class Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV), new E-Class premium sedan and the B-Class Diesel hatchback.

Continuing with its proactive strategy, the brand with three pointed start is soon expected to introduce the E63 AMG, a performance oriented luxury sedan. This is considered to be the auto maker's reply to the launch of 2013 RS5 by Audi, a strong, responsive and sporty vehicle. It is expected that the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG will be launched on the 25th of July. Sources close to the development process revealed that the E63 AMG will be brought to India as a Completely Built Unit (CBU).

As previously stated several times by the officials of Mercedes-Benz, the company is adopting an aggressive policy in order to regain a hold it had on the Indian premium car market. Notably, the German manufacture was displaced from its top position by compatriots BMW and Audi, who have captured the luxury car segment of the Indian car market. However, recent events suggest that Mercedes-Benz is in no mood to go down and is fighting harder than ever.

Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG will be powered by a 5.5 litre V8 engine, which is capable of churning an output of 550 bhp and up to 700 Nm of torque. The V8 engine in the 2014 E63 AMG comes mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission that transmits the power to all four wheels of the model. Interestingly, the preceding model of the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG was fitted with a 6.2 litre engine that produced an output 30 bhp less than what the upcoming model is expected to generate.

The design of the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG will feature an “A-Wing”, exclusive to AMG, with the twin-grille blade placed above. It's rear comes added with a black finished diffuser and a dual-exhaust set up that is, again, exclusive to AMG. Mercedes-Benz has paid a lot of attention at enhancing the beauty of the interiors of the E63 AMG. The interiors, designed in true AMG style, feature silver seatbelts, along with Alcantara inserts into the Nappa leather steering wheel.

It must be noted that Mercedes-Benz has not yet disclosed the price of the E63 AMG. However, industry experts feel that its pricing will be done on the basis of the Audi RS5, its direct and fiercest competitor that costs Rs. 96.81 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The RS5 Coupe from Audi comes fitted with an all aluminium 4.2 litre V8 engine that generates 450 bhp and up to 430 Nm of torque. Being a highly performance oriented vehicle, it is capable of clocking 0-100 kmph in a mere 4.5 seconds, which will surely leave the Indian audience mesmerised.
