Mercedes-Benz has recorded its highest ever annual sales number by selling 13,558 cars in the last financial year. Apart from this, the company also set the record for highest number of cars sold in a month in March.
Despite Delhi government’s recently passed regulation banning diesel cars displacing more than 2000cc played spoilsport, Mercedes-Benz sold 3,622 cars in the first quarter of 2016, another record for the German car manufacturer. The biggest contributor in Mercedes-Benz’s success story is the E-Class, which is followed by the C-Class. Even the high-end models like the S-Class and the Mercedes-Maybach have been selling well, leading to a waiting period across the country.
Commenting on this achievement, Mr Roland Folger, MD and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India said, “It is a significant achievement for us, as we have maintained our growth momentum in Q1 2016, despite facing multiple market challenges. We have been able to compensate the negative sales impact in the Delhi and NCR market, with a strong double digit growth achieved in most other markets across the country. This strongly underlines the fact that luxury car buyers increasingly prefer Mercedes-Benz.”
