      Mercedes-Benz A-Class facelift launched for Rs 24.95 lakh

      Mercedes-Benz India has launched the facelifted A-Class hatchback at Rs 24.95 lakh for the A180 and Rs 25.95 lakh for the A200d (ex-showroom Mumbai). The car gets some updates to add to the appeal of the premium hatchback.

      In India, the Mercedes-Benz A-Class is only offered as the A180 in the petrol trim and the A200 in the diesel guise. The 1.6-litre petrol mill churns out 121bhp of power and 200Nm of torque, while the 2.0-litre diesel motor belts out 134bhp of power and 300Nm of torque. There are no upgrades to this powertrain, but the company has changed the ‘CDI’ nomenclature to 'd' to denote the diesel variants.

      With the launch of the A-Class in its refreshed avatar, the carmaker also fulfils its promise of launching 15 products this year under the ’15 in 15’ strategy. This 2016 iteration of the A-Class will compete with the Mini Cooper D and the Volvo V40 in the luxury hatchback segment in the Indian market.

      The biggest change to the new A Class is the new ‘Elbaite green’ colour apart from the other standard colour options. The hatchback gets a minor cosmetic makeover with some styling enhancements and additional features. The fascia boasts of a reworked headlamp design with optional LED headlamps and LED DRLs. The front bumper gets new air intakes and the car now rides on optional black alloy wheels. The changes at the back include a revised tail light detailing and a new diffuser with integrated dual exhaust tips.

      The cabin of the car also gets some changes and new features like the panoramic sunroof and Mercedes Apps are now standard on the vehicle. The instrument console is upgraded and a new multifunction steering wheel has been introduced. The carmaker has also introduced new colour themes, trims and new fabric for the seats. The interior also features a new eight-inch COMAND infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and MirrorLink smartphone connectivity. Additionally, the reversing camera now gets guide lines.
