Audi, the German luxury carmaker is all set to introduce the A3 hatchback in the Indian car market this year, while BMW India will also launch the 1 Series facelift by the end of this year. Interestingly, the Mercedes-Benz is also working on the facelift of the A-Class hatchback; however, the premium hatchback will get a minor makeover. Adding to it, the company might also introduce a more powerful variant of the A45 AMG to rival the Audi RS3.

The Mercedes-Benz currently has a series production 2.0-litre petrol engine that is good for 355bhp of power. This engine was claimed to be the most powerful series production 2.0L petrol engine, but the Audi RS3 Sportback with 362bhp of power is now the world’s most powerful hatchback. It is claimed to offer 7 additional horsepower. Now, Mercedes is aiming to win back by introducing a more powerful version of the A45 AMG.

The exact details about the increase in power are yet to be announced, but reports say that the upcoming A45 AMG is likely to get slightly tweaked engine with 375bhp of power. It is quite early to comment on the possible outcome, but if the figures are right, the vehicle is expected to accelerate to 100kmph from standstill in less than 4.5 seconds before hitting an electronically limited top speed of 250kmph.

Talking about changes, the Mercedes-Benz A-Class facelift likely to get slightly tweaked front fascia with unique grille and slightly modified headlamps. At the back, the hatch is likely to get revised tail lamps and bumper. Expect new alloy wheels, improved in-car infotainment system and new additions.
