The interior of the new-gen A-Class was officially revealed by Mercedes-Benz.
Mercedes’ compact hatch will now have a completely redesigned interior. The cabin draws its design and technology cues from the larger models such as the new E-Class and S-Class. First up, you can see the large floating display which has directly trickled down the flagship S-Class. So now you have a dual screen stacked atop the dashboard and an all-digital instrument cluster. These screens are available in three versions – two seven-inch (17.78 cm), one seven and one 10.25-inch (26 cm) or with two 10.25-inch displays.
The multifunction steering wheel is directly scrounged from the more expensive S-Class. The seat adjustment buttons are now situated on the doors. The comfort features which were previously offered in the expensive cars such as seat climate control, massage function and multi-contour seat are available too. Even the material used inside the new A-Class will be of premium quality. The iconic ‘turbine’ air-vents are now more modern and futuristic to look at.
Mercedes says that the cabin space has been improved as well. The shoulder room is up by nine millimetres upfront and 22mm at the rear. The headroom gets a seven and eight-millimetre increase at the front and rear respectively. The boot space is now 370 litres, up by 29 litres compared to the outgoing model. The 60-40 split seats at the rear can be adjusted upright to fit square-boxes in the boot. The all-around visibility has been improved by around 10 per cent, according to the Stuttgart-based carmaker.
The new A-Class will also come with no less than 64 ambient lighting colours inside the cabin. The 2018 A-Class will be the first car in its segment of compact hatchbacks to boast seats that have been developed using special computer-based comfort simulation. There are around 20 adjustable seat settings to choose from.
The W177 A-Class will be more premium than the outgoing model as can be seen in the all-new layout of the cabin. Mercedes-Benz aims to make the new-gen A-Class even more premium. The new-gen A-Class will be launched sometime next year. It will be followed by the first-ever sedan version as well. Mercedes-Benz will surely bring the new A-Class to India promptly after it hits the showroom in the international markets.
