The new range-topping Mercedes-AMG SLC 43 replaces the older SLK 55. As part of the German automaker’s plan to launch around 12 new models in India this year, the newest of the lot, the Mercedes-AMG SLC 43 will be launched in India on July 26, 2016.
Instead of the older 5.5-litre naturally aspirated V8 engine which powered the SLK 55, the new SLC 43 will get a 3.0-litre V6 biturbo engine which will generate about 361bhp of power and 500Nm of torque. The powerful engine comes mated to a new nine-speed automatic gearbox which helps the car clock a 0 – 100kmph in just about 4.7 seconds. The top-speed is electronically restricted to 250kmph.
The AMG SLC 43 gets a sporty front with a new bumper and tweaked headlamps with LED DRLs, while the rear gets a new bumper, exhaust and restyled tail lamps with LED detailing. The sides continue to resemble the SLK. Inside, the car will get a more aggressive body kit, AMG sports seats, AMG steering and instrument cluster. This time around, the roof mechanism is now fully automatic and no manual operation is required. More details about the car will be known post its launch.
