Mercedes-AMG's latest sports sedan, the C43, has made its India debut today. The carmaker has launched it through the CBU route and priced it at Rs 74.3 lakh.
The AMG C43 is a performance-oriented version of the regular C-Class. However, sticking to its sportier nature, the car employs a 3.0-litre bi-turbo V6 engine producing 362bhp of power and 520Nm of torque. On the transmission front, a nine-speed automatic gearbox does the duty while sending power to all the wheels through a 4MATIC all-wheel drive system that is 69 per cent rear biased. This helps the car to sprint to 100kmph from a standstill in just 4.7 seconds. An electronically limited top speed is rated at 250kmph.
The Mercedes-AMG C43 features multiple driving modes including a Sport Plus mode that sets the suspension to its stiffest setting and enables aggressive shift mapping. When you switch to Comfort mode for more sedate driving, a lighter steering and a softer suspension is enabled. The car also gets a modified chassis and a sports suspension featuring AMG RIDE CONTROL and a rigid but light four-wheel multilink design. Then there is three-stage adaptive variable damping and AMG-developed springs, along with electronically controlled shock absorbers.
The exterior also shouts out performance and shows off the cars racy nature. The main highlights are a diamond-mesh grille, large alloy wheels, a special cladding, a rear spoiler and a performance exhaust. The cabin is also packed with most of the luxury elements that one would expect from a Mercedes. Now the BMW M4, Jaguar F-Type V6 and even the Audi TT have found a new competitor in the sports sedan segment in our country.
