Mercedes-AMG revealed the AMG GT Concept at the 2017 Geneva Motor show, previewing a four-door performance sedan that will join the GT coupe and convertible. The German manufacturer has promptly commenced the testing of the prototype and here we have the first ever spy shots of the four-door Mercedes-AMG GT Concept.

The car is yet to be officially named, but the test mule was spotted near the manufacturer’s facility in Germany. The prototype remains true to the body shape previewed by the Concept at Geneva. The headlight design seems similar to the new gen A-Class’ spotted a few days back, while the AMG GT’s ‘Panamericana’ grill is heavily cladded. The four-door silhouette is sleek, but there is a protruding tail section hiding the coupe-esque body style. The production version, on the other hand, will sport a sloping tail section similar to the concept which is straight out of the AMG GT coupe. The headlight and taillight signature is also somewhat similar to the one on the Concept.

The AMG GT sedan will be powered by the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 scrounged from the AMG GT coupe. However, the GT Concept at Geneva showcased a hybrid powertrain inspired by Mercedes-AMG Formula One car. This hybrid powertrain is called EQ Power+ and will adjoin the V8 with an electric motor mounted at the back pushing out a whopping 800bhp. With an enormous surge of torque, the car will be able to accelerate from zero to 100kmph in supercar-rivalling three seconds (or less). This car when launched is rumoured to likely replace the gorgeous CLS Shooting Brake in the company’s lineup.

Expect the AMG GT four door to be revealed in production guise sometime next year following the global debut of new gen A-Class and the all-new CLS. This four-door coupe will join the ever growing AMG GT family and will enter in direct competition with the likes of Porsche Panamera, Audi A7, and BMW 6-series GranCoupe.
