Mercedes-Benz launched the GLS 63 AMG in India for the price of 1.58 crore. The AMG badge is worn by performance-oriented Mercedes-Benz vehicles which offer more power and better handling compared to its standard variants. The GLS 63 sits above the standard GLS 350d and 400.

The GLS 63 borrows its styling cues from the AMG design language and gets a re-styled sporty bumper. To set it apart from the standard model, the GLS 63’s brake callipers are painted red and the vehicle gets chrome fins for that extra sporty touch. The side profile exhibits the 21-inch AMG cross-spoke light-alloy wheels painted in titanium grey with high-sheen finish.

Inside the cabin of the GLS 63 is an AMG Performance steering wheel wrapped in black nappa leather. The cabin is loaded with features like temperature-controlled cup holder, thermotronic automatic climate control, multi-contour front seats including massage function, luxury head restraints and seat cushion depth adjustment. The vehicle gets a Harmon Kardon Logic 7 surround sound infotainment system. The GLS 63 can also be customised and personalised to its owners liking as it is launched under the Mercedes-Benz ‘Designo’ platform.

Mercedes-AMG claims the GLS 63 to be the pinnacle of performance SUVs. Under the hood of the GLS 63 is a 5.5-litre V8 BITURBO engine producing 576bhp and 760Nm of torque. Not only does it have higher power and torque figures, the GLS 63 also comes equipped with bigger brake rotors and high performance brake callipers to take care of stopping responsibilities. The new vehicle gets a revised AMG Speedshift Plus 7G-Tronic gearbox and AMG Ride Control sports suspension with Airmatic air suspension and automatic level control system. The new sporty SUV offers five driving modes – Slippery, Individual, Comfort, Sport and Sport+. The AMG GLS 63 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds.

The Mercedes-Benz GLS 63 AMG is a sporty-luxury SUV which will compete against the BMW X5 M, Porsche Cayenne GTS, Volvo XC90 Excellence and the Range Rover Sport V8 Autobiography.
