      Meerut stops registration of diesel cars over 2000cc

      Meerut’s transport authorities have also stopped the registration of new luxury diesel engine cars with engine capacity of more than 2000cc. This decision was made after the Supreme Court passed the law to stop the registrations of diesel cars in excess of 2000cc in NCR from 1st of January 2016.

      The EPCA — Environment Pollution (Prevention and Control) Authority — chairman for NCR had directed the transport authorities to stop registrations from Monday. The RTO was open on Sunday for all those who have purchased diesel cars to submit their registration.

      RTO claimed that very few new vehicles have been purchased in December as generally the customers like to buy cars in January, which is a new year. According to sources, dealers have booked over 300 cars, which will be delivered in 2016. Most of these vehicles are Mahindra vehicles like the Scorpio and the Bolero.

      The Deputy transport commissioner, BK Gupta has sated that the registration of vehicles has been banned in NCR and this includes Meerut and Saharanpur commissionaires as well.
