It’s been just seven years since McLaren started making cars as an independent automaker and the company has already crossed the the 15,000 car production milestone. Interestingly, this feat was achieved in less than 18 months after the company manufactured its 10,000th car. The 570S Spider in Curacao Blue has emerged as the milestone unit. Start of the second production shift in 2016 led to an increase in production from 10 units to 20 units a day.

McLaren Production Centre (MPC) in Woking, Surrey exports to more than 30 markets around the world. Speaking on the occasion, Mike Flewitt, CEO, McLaren Automotive, said, "Reaching 15,000 cars built is a significant milestone for McLaren Automotive and comes under 18 months after we hit 10,000 vehicles, showing how demand and production have increased. The Sports Series has been pivotal to driving this growth, with the 570S Spider now the most popular of the range. The fact we are now able to produce 20 cars a day is of course a great testament to the hard work and dedication of every one of our workforce, who should feel justifiably proud and part of this great team effort."

The year 2017 has been particularly favorable for the British sportscar manufacturer as it witnessed a sales of 3,340 units. The launch of two new models namely – 570S Spider Sports Series and 720S Super Series has also boosted sales considerably. McLaren is also working on a performance SUV, details for which will be known at a later date.
