McLaren has unveiled a more useable version of the 570S at the Geneva Motor Show, called the 570GT. The car has better ride and a large boot with intention of offering more practicality.
The GT in the name stands for Grand Touring and the car has total of 370 litre boot space (should be sufficient for two), with 220 litre glass door hatch at the rear and additional 150 litre under the bonnet. The hatch opens sideways; depending upon the place where the driver sits. This change means that McLaren had to do away with the flying buttresses at the back, but now there is a new large spoiler at the rear to provide extra downforce.
There is no change in the engine compared to the 570S. This car also uses the 3.8-litre V8 producing 562bhp and 600Nm. It is marginally slower than the S, taking 3.4 seconds to get to 100kmph with the additional 37kg weight and reduced aero package. McLaren has also changed the suspension springs in this to offer more comfortable ride.
The 570GT has been priced at around USD 2,00,000 (Rs 1.36 crore) and the deliveries in the global market will start by July.
