The recent unconfirmed media reports claim that Germany based leading car maker Mercedes Benz will be discontinuing its popular Maybach variants – Maybach 57 and Maybach 62 – from the market by year 2013. It is learnt that the move will be taken to make way for new Mercedes Benz S Class in the global market.

Both Maybach 57 and Maybach 62 have been registering moderate sales growth, far below the expectations of the company prior to the launch of these car models. Earlier, Mercedes Benz and Aston Martin were in talks to enter a deal to upgrade the Maybach car models. It was expected that this deal will project Maybach vehicle as major launches in the luxury car segment. However, talks between these luxury car makers failed to reach fruition. According to the industry sources, these two sluggishly performing Maybach models will be withdrawn from the market by the end of year 2013.

At the same time, the company is looking forward to launch three new variants of its popular super luxury S class models. These models will include much awaited S600 Pullman which is expected be well received by the buyers of this segment. The car will be competing with the models of likes of Bentley and Rolls-Royce.
