The upcoming Auto Expo event seems to be highly awaited by Maruti Suzuki fans. Fresh off the block from Maruti is the XA Alpha. The car is the first SUV to be unveiled by the Indian manufacturer. Ample media coverage and hype surrounding the event may provide with just the right launch pad that the company had been eyeing for a while.
The XA Alpha is expected to steal the show for Maruti Suzuki during the upcoming Auto Expo event. Until now the compact SUV segment was ruled by International brands such as Ford, Hyundai and Toyota, but now the competition is slated to get tougher with the launch of Maruti Suzuki XA Alpha. As per sources, the car shall be powered by a 1.5 litre diesel engine. It is also said that the diesel engine has been developed by Suzuki, and the current line featuring Fiat's Multijet technology may be put to rest. For now, the car shall be available in diesel version, but a petrol version can be expected down the line. It is also worth noting that this would be the first SUV attempt from Maruti Suzuki to venture into this segment. Reports also state that Suzuki is also developing a variety of engines, namely 0.8-litre, 1.2-litre and 1.4-litre, to provide wider options to the buyers. It is anticipated that similar engines may be used for WagonR, Ritz, Swift and Ertiga models. Unofficial reports have stated around 13 – 16 kmpl for the petrol version, whereas the diesel version is stated to deliver 17 – 20 kmpl. Confirmed figures shall be revealed once the car has been released.
Maruti Suzuki has always stood-by people's expectations and it would be interesting to see if this new SUV named XA Alpha manages to keep up with the company's reputation for reliable, efficient and cost-effective car.
