Maruti Suzuki, the country's largest passenger car maker, is planning to launch a new model of WagonR named Stingray in the Indian auto market. Industry experts are of a view that the model will be introduced just around the festive season of this year. It must be noted that the cars in WagonR line up have enjoyed a decent market share in the compact car segment. It is believed that the upcoming model will sport a completely new and revamped front fascia. The front bumper will be longer as well as wider and will come fitted with projector headlamps, which is expected to give an exciting new look to the car. Apart from it, a slimmer chrome grille along with a elongated radiator grille is also likely to be present on its front bumper.

On the sides, the car is anticipated to get minor changes and experts believe that it will be hard to spot the difference between the existing model of WagonR and Stingray. At its rear end, the new set of tail lights will be provided with clear lens giving it a more sportier look. The new WagonR Stingray is expected to come equipped with premium features such as steering mounted audio controls along with a double din music system. It is being also said that the top end variant of WagonR Stingray will be fitted with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS). Coming to its interiors, the new model will be seen sporting black interiors, which further has fuelled speculations that Stingray will be provided with two-tone interiors. The upcoming model will feature new alloys wheels, looking quite better in design as compared to the ones incorporated in the existing model.

Rumours are rife that Maruti Suzuki's WagonR Stingray will soon debut in the Indian car market during the festive season as sales for passenger cars gradually see a significant increase. According to industry experts, the car may be priced at a higher cost of around Rs. 40000 to Rs. 50000 from the existing WagonR model. As far as engine is concerned, Stingray is expected to be equipped with the same old 1.0-litre 3-cylinder engine, which is capable of producing 67 bhp of power while giving away a maximum torque of 90 Nm. The K-Series petrol motor of the car will be mated out to a 5-speed manual transmission apart from the CVT gearbox that is currently given in the Japanese version of Stingray.

It must be noted that Maruti Suzuki Stingray made its debut in the Japanese car market earlier this year and has enjoyed a overwhelming response till now. It is widely speculated that Stingray's launch is seen as desperate move by Maruti Suzuki to offer competition to Hyundai's newly announced Grand i10 model.
