      Maruti to set-up new integrated logistics hub near Kolkata

      The country’s leading car maker Maruti Suzuki, which has been has been working hard to bring down the mounting waiting period of its cars in the Indian auto market, is planning to establish an integrated logistics hub near the city of Kolkata. The new set-up will be taking an estimated investment of Rs 100 crore. The new logistics hub will be spread at over 60 acres of land which is located near Panagarh.

      It is to be mentioned here that Maruti Suzuki has already planned to set-up a Rs 80 crore hub at Siliguri, which will be catering the demand from the customers of North Bengal and the North east Region. However, the company is yet to submit the proposal to the West Bengal government for this prospective project, which is still in a preliminary stage.

      Speaking to the reporters, after the company officials met with state industries minister (Mr. Partha Chatterjee) industry secretary Basudeb Banerjee, company’s executive officer (production engineering) Mr. R Dayal, said, "Our plans for a facility near Kolkata are at a nascent stage. We want to set up a warehousing facility for 10,000-15,000 cars, which will also include a servicing unit, a store house for automobile spares and a training facility." He added that the company will inspect the land near Panagarh which is inside an industrial park being constructed by the state government.
