The country’s leading car maker Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) is working aggressively to meet the high demand of its popular models like Swift and Dzire. The company is not only looking forward to expand its manufacturing capacity to counter this demand shortfall, but also planning to set-up huge stockyards to bring down the mounting waiting periods. The company has already decided to set-up tow of such stockyards in Nagpur and West Bengal, while in Bangalore they already have such facility.

Speaking on the matter, Shashank Srivastava, Chief General Manager of Marketing, said, "We are struggling to reduce the waiting period for delivery of diesel based cars to customers."

Meanwhile, the company has tied-up with the Italian car maker Fiat to supply one lakh diesel engines per annum. The deal is aimed at capitalizing on the increasing demand for diesel variant of company’s popular cars like Swift, Ritz, Dzire and SX4. Moreover, the firm is coming-up with a new manufacturing facility in Gujarat, which is expected to go operational by year 2014-15.

At present, the company has two manufacturing facilities in Haryana, including one each in Gurgaon and Manesar, with a total manufacturing capacity of over 12 lakh units per annum.
