It is no secret that Maruti Suzuki India’s flagship model, Swift hatchback is up for a mild facelift. Being spied a couple of times near the company’s manufacturing unit located in Manesar Haryana, the facelift model is expected to be launched in domestic market around October November. Speculations are also rife that the tweaked version of Swift slated for launch in India could be the Swift Sport variant displayed earlier this year at the 2014 Auto Expo. If at all the Swift Sport variant is brought to India, it will be offered in five-door body-style.

Though there has been no confirmation on the same from MSI yet. As for the tweaks expected to be seen on new Swift there will be no change in the design of the hatchback. Engine configuration will also remain unchanged with petrol variants getting power from the 1.2 litre petrol engine and diesel trims housing Fiat Sourced 1.3 litre Multijet engine Both the engines are expected to be mated to a five –speed manual transmission. Additional features on the exterior front include daytime running lights, electrically adjustable ORVMs, alloy wheels flaunting a new design, tweaked front profile, reworked grille, slightly modified head lamps and revised front bumper.

In B segment, Swift will face off with other rivals including the recently overhauled Hyundai Elite i20, new Volkswagen Polo, Fiat Punto Evo from the current options available in this division. Apart from these vehicles, upcoming launches in B segment include Tata Bolt, new Honda Jazz and Ford Figo facelift. Tata Bolt is expected to be launched in domestic market this year, new Honda Jazz and upgraded Ford Figo will be launched next year in India. On the price front we can expected a slight bump, however the mist surrounding details of new Swift will be cleared during the launch.
