The B+ segment in India is undergoing an overhaul, most of the vehicles comprising this segment have already received a facelift while there are a few cars left to be spawned in new avatar. The next hatchback in line to be rolled out in a new avatar is segment favourite and MSI’s flagship hatchback, the Swift. After its last comprehensive tweak given in 2011, this is a mild facelift that will be given to the hatchback. Rumour mills were humming earlier that MSI will come up with Swift facelift around festive season, however reportedly there has been a slight change in the launch plan. Buzz has it that Maruti Suzuki India plans on bringing new Swift in domestic market by November.

Among the changes made to the car a couple of new features are included along with a handful of cosmetic tweaks. Most prominent change will be seen in the form of L-Shaped LEDs, reworked fog lamps and bumper with silver finishing. New wheel covers will be equipped across all the trims except for the top-end trim that is expected to come with redesigned alloy wheels. A new metallic shade called Boost Blue will also be introduced, but it will only be available on the high-end version. The new model is expected to share similarity with the European model and hence we infer that new Swift cold also be bestowed with new stop-lamp design.

A couple of changes will also be done inside the cabin including blue and grey lined seat fabrics, auto-up touch functions for the front passenger’s window, start-stop button and electronically adjustable side view mirrors. No changes will be seen on the mechanical front and new Swift will continue to be powered with the same 1.2 litre K-Series petrol engine and the robust 1.3 litre multijet diesel powertrain soured from Fiat. The last update was extremely comprehensive and Swift received hysterical response in the form of immense bookings by the time it was officially launched in India. However on the contrary changes made to the hatchback are minimal, yet let’s hope that the vehicle will get good response from customers.
