Maruti Swift, one of the most sought after premium hatchbacks in the Indian market, continues to drive massive bookings in the country, even as its production has been affected by the ongoing worker’s strike at Maruti’s Manesar plant. The booking figures for the new age Swift have crossed the crucial mark of 1,00,000 units, even as the company had to stop receiving booking in the Indian auto market due to the strike.

The company is working hard to normalize the supply of the car to the buyers across the country by enhancing the production at the strike affected Manesar unit. At present, the total bookings for the Maruti Swift stays at 1.08 lakh units in the Indian market. The company has increased the production of the car to 700 units a day, comprising the production at both Manesar and Gurgaon plants.

Commenting on the situation, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) Managing Executive Officer (Marketing and Sales) Mayank Pareek said, "The demand for Swift is huge. It is the supply side which we had a problem in the first part of this month, but that is gradually coming to normal levels."He added, “The only issue was with Swift, which is produced from Manesar. We are now producing around 700 units a day."

The new generation Swift was launched in the Indian market on 17th August 2011. The car is not only bigger in space but also better in performance as compared to its predecessor.
