It seems that Maruti Suzuki has some really big plans for the Indian market. The company is planning to launch a bunch of facelifts and new car models in India this year. MSI's much awaited premium hatchback, codenamed YRA, will be the next big launch from the company’s stable, which is slated to launch during the festive season. The YRA is likely to be called Maruti Suzuki Fronx in India, says a report done by Gaadiwaadi.

The vehicle was unveiled at 2015 Geneva Motor Show as the iK-2 Concept. Based on the new Liquid flow design language, the Fronx will be significantly wider, larger and more spacious than the existing B-segment Maruti Suzuki cars. The production version is likely to get chrome door handles, de-fogger, rear wiper and five-spoke alloys. It might also get features like automatic climate control, touchscreen infotainment system and push button engine start.

Coming to the engine, the concept version was showcased with a new 1.0-litre K10C BoosterJet petrol engine. It’s the same 998cc K10B engine that does duty to the Celerio, Alto K10 and WagonR, but now it gets a turbocharger and tuned for better response. The engine will be offered with both manual and automatic transmissions.

A 1.2-litre 1242cc K12C petrol engine, boosted with DualJet technology, might be designed for export markets only. The Fronx diesel will get a 1.3-litre DDiS engine that alsopowers the Ciaz and Ertiga. This engine is good for 89bhp. Expected to be priced between Rs. 5.5 lakhs – Rs. 8.5 lakhs, the Maruti Fronx will compete against the Volkswagen Polo, Hyundai i20 and the upcoming Honda Jazz in India.
