India's leading car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), has been keeping its audience on their toes in anticipation of its upcoming mid-sized sedan, the YL1. And if the latest reports are to be believed, MSIL will christen the YL1 as 'Ciaz'. First on the company's list of new products for the market is the Ciaz, a new mid-size sedan slated for an year-end launch. After the Esteem, Baleno and SX4, the Ciaz will be their fourth attempt to claim their share in this segment. The Ciaz is set to usher in an all-new design philosophy for the Japanese carmaker’s sedan range and will utilise designing cues from the ‘Authentics Concept’, that was showcased at the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show.

The Ciaz will enter the Indian automobile market loaded with a 1.4-litre K-Series petrol engine that is also found under the Ertiga's hood, along with a 1.6-litre diesel engine, which will most probably be supplied by Fiat. Though Maruti Suzuki refused to divulge details about it, a company official confirmed that the mid-sized sedan is built on a new platform and will be a completely new car for Suzuki’s global range. Other than India, the Ciaz will also be sold in China, West Asia and Africa.

The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is expected to be unveiled at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo along with Celerio hatchback, which will replace the A-Star and Estilo. Furthermore, the company also plans to debut the Swift and Dzire facelift,s and the iV-4 crossover concept at the event.
