Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza sells more than one lakh units

The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza has now crossed a milestone of selling more than one lakh cars since its launch.

The Vitara Brezza helped Maruti Suzuki enter the SUV segment, which was almost nonexistent before, but has been growing ten folds since the introduction of the Vitara Brezza. Launched in march last year, the Brezza promptly remained amongst the top ten selling cars in India, selling an average of more than 8,500 units every month. The Vitara garnered more than two lakh bookings already and the waiting period stands up to seven months. The manufacturer also commenced the production of Vitara Brezza at the newly constructed Gujarat facility and pushed the production to 10,000 units from previous 8,000 units in August to curb the surging demand.

Powered by a 1.3-litre DDis four pot diesel engine, the Vitara Brezza has a power output of 88bhp and 200Nm of torque. Available only with a five-speed manual transmission so far, the automatic is expected sometime next year. The compact SUV also has an impressive fuel economy of 24.3kmpl. Priced quite competitively, ranging between Rs 7.26 lakh and Rs 9.70 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
