The country’s largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki has announced its plans to upgrade its used car business in the country. First introduced in 2001, True Value pre-owned car business deals with the company’s entire range.
Two major initiatives have been announced under True Value 2.0 outlets -
The automaker has said that by March 2018 it will open 150 standalone outlets across the country. This will be third standalone setup and joins the likes of Maruti Suzuki and Nexa showrooms. The new showrooms will get the latest Maruti Suzuki design language and colour schemes like the red entry arch and overall blue shade of the building. These are signature brand colours of the automaker.
Digital buying experience
Those going for True Value cars can now look at the cars online before visiting the showroom. All information about the cars will be available online both through the website as well as a dedicated mobile app.
Transparency in documentation
To keep quality under control, all cars will be subjected to a 376 point check list and be given a rating on a five star scale as a part of the certification process.
The company has said that to qualify for certified sales, the cars must be under seven years and not done more than 1 lakh Km. Further it must not have passed through the hands of more than 2 owners, been in commercial use or retrofitted with CNG/LPG kits. All certified cars will get a 1 year warranty and three free services.
By 2020, Maruti Suzuki aims to expand to 300 True Value 2.0 outlets. Multibrand cars will not be sold via these outlets and the GST rate remains the same as it is on new cars.
Commenting on the launch of True Value 2.0, Kenichi Ayukawa, MD and CEO of Maruti Suzuki said, “We want to offer buyers of pre-owned cars the same experience as buyers of new cars. A network of spacious new outlets, using digital technology for customer convenience, will be the highlight of True Value. Our focus will be on quality cars, refurbished and certified with the assurance of warranty. A star-rating for each car will help the True Value customers to make a right choice.”
