It seems that the cloud of worries will soon disappear from the Manesar plant of Maruti Suzuki as the country’s largest passenger car maker said that it is anticipating reaching at full production potential before the end of October’s third week. Attaining of full production capacity clearly indicates that the car maker has come to a position of rolling out 1600-1700 units a day. To attain the same, the company has started the second shift operations at its violent hit plant.

Reportedly, the car maker is also planning to increase the strength of workers at its unit between 700 and 4,500 workers before the end of this year. On the other hand, 622 permanent employees of the company have signed a three-year wage settlement agreement with Maruti Suzuki. Speaking on the employee bandwidth at Manesar facility, the Chief Operating Officer (Administration) of Maruti Suzuki, S Y Siddiqui said that before the end of December 2012, “the total number of workers will be 4,500”.

He then added that presently 3,822 employees are working at the unit and another 200 will come into operations before the end of October 2012. Thereafter a batch of 300 employees will join the auto maker by the end of November.

In a press conference, the Chief Operating Officer (Production) of Maruti Suzuki, M M Singh said, “Yesterday we started the second shift at Manesar plant. Currently we are assembling about 1,350 cars every day at Manesar and we are ramping up it gradually.”

Presently, the Manesar plant of Maruti Suzuki is engaged in the manufacturing of its premium hatchback Swift and DZire sedan. Along with these, the assembling process of A-Star hatchback and SX4 mid-sized sedan is also carried at the same plant.

Speaking on wage settlement agreement, Siddiqui quoted, “A total of 622 permanent workers out of 630 at the Manesar plant have signed the three-year wage settlement agreement with the MSI management.”
