Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), the country's favourite passenger car maker, has revealed intentions to introduce 10 new models in the domestic auto sector, over the next five years. The company will launch new products across all major vehicle segments of Indian auto market, including the light commercial class of vehicles.

As per industry sources, Maruti Suzuki has set a target of increasing its vehicle manufacturing output to 3 million units over the next five years. The company's new ambitious vision looks like a confident bid to reclaim its his best ever share of 44.64 per cent in the Indian auto market. Reportedly, Maruti Suzuki witnessed an unparalleled market share of 44.64 per cent in 2010, which has fallen to 37.76 per cent (worst in its history) during 2012 calendar in the country. However, the company is still the largest passenger car seller in India with its present contribution.

Reportedly, Maruti Suzuki will pool together resources with its parent firm- Suzuki Motor Corporation, the Japanese multinational auto major and the world's tenth largest car maker. Both the companies will jointly develop new platforms and models in the near future. The decision of expanding product portfolio will help Maruti Suzuki in retaining its dominance as a number of auto majors are emerging with big selling volume pullers on Indian turf, such as Renault.

At present, Maruti Suzuki accounts for more than a third of global sales of its parent company and close to 40 per cent of its worldwide profits. Evidently, the demand for automobiles is increasing exponentially in the emerging auto markets across the globe. Hence, Suzuki Motor Corp. has decided to set focus on India and transform it into the company's global manufacturing hub for automobiles.

As per reports, Maruti Suzuki India manufactured more vehicles than its parent firm assembled in Japan during the 2012 calendar year. Evidently, Suzuki Motor Corp. made 10.61 lakh units, whereas its Indian subsidiary produced 10.63 lakh units last year. Further, Suzuki assembled a total of 28.93 lakh units in 2012 from all of its plants located worldwide.
