The WagonR has been a considerable contributor to Maruti Suzuki sales in the country, however its feature loaded Stingray version has not been attracting big numbers. Based on fresh updates, Maruti Suzuki is considering discontinuing the Stingray name and rebadging the product as WagonR Minor. The vehicle will be available in petrol and CNG options.
Under the hood, the WagonR Minor will continue to be powered by a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder engine that that generates 67Bhp at 6200rpm and 90Nm of torque at 3500rpm. Along with standard five-speed manual transmission the vehicle will also be offered with AMT option. The rebadged version will be available in 12 trims, with VXI+ being introduced for the first time.
The Maruti Suzuki WagonR Minor carries all the design element from the Stingray except for the WagonR chrome badge at the rear. As per leaked prices, the vehicle also gets cheaper than before, which means that the automaker might cut down on features, especially projector headlamps. Unlike all-black interior offered in Stingray, the WagonR Minor interior sports dual-tone black and beige combination and beige upholstery.
More details about the vehicle will be known in the coming days. As seen in images, the vehicle will be available in seven colour options – superior white, silky silver metallic, metallic glistening grey, passion red, metallic bakers chocolate, metallic breeze blue and midnight blue.
