Maruti Suzuki, the largest passenger car maker in India, does not seems to be satisfied with this title. The auto maker is striving hard to increase its customer base in India by manifolds. As other companies are coming up with better innovations and more interesting models, Maruti Suzuki too is busy in developing around 12 new cars for the Indian market. Sources close to the development process revealed that these products are a part of the five year strategy, and therefore will be introduced across different time spans.

Experts believe that the auto maker will be introducing new models across several categories like utility vehicles, commercial vehicles, vans and sporty hatchbacks. The auto maker is also expected to launch new generation fuel-type models like hybrids, turbocharged petrol cars and its diesel engines. Heading the bandwagon will come the SX4 S-Cross, which is expected to make its debut in 2015 in the Indian market. This model is likely to square off against the Ford EcoSport and Renault Duster. Another compact SUV is anticipated to come in 2016, placed below the S-Cross. A new generation model of Grand Vitara is also expected to make its public appearance, which will compete against the likes of Skoda Yeti. Along with these utility vehicles, a premium Multi Purpose Vehicle, positioned above Ertiga, will make its way in the Indian market.

YRA premium hatchback is also on the cards of the auto maker, featuring a turbocharged petrol engine, positioned above the current generation Swift. Launch of an innovative entry-level hatchback is also expected by Maruti Suzuki, however the details are yet not known. In the commercial vehicle category, the company is expected to introduce two models, namely Super Carry LCV and a new compact goods van.

In order to meet the demands of all these new models, Maruti Suzuki will be setting up two new plants in Gujarat, and therefore the annual production expected to reach over 2 million units. With all the above mentioned launches, industry experts are of a view that the auto maker is in no mood to leave no stone unturned to increase its stake in the Indian market.
