Maruti Suzuki is preparing to launch a limited edition of the Swift for the Indian market soon. The carmaker has hinted at the upcoming variant of the hatchback through their social media activities.
Though Maruti Suzuki is still tight-lipped about the new version, we can expect the Swift to get some cosmetic changes to refresh the looks of the ageing car. We can expect some tweaks to the external appearance and some additional new features in the car. The carmaker is asking people via twitter to suggest a name for this special edition, which is a good way to build up the hype through such activities.
The upcoming Swift special edition is not expected to get any mechanical changes. It will continue to be powered by the 85bhp 1.2-litre petrol engine and 74bhp 1.3-litre Multijet diesel mill. Both the engine options come mated to a five-speed manual transmission.
Maruti Suzuki surely has felt the heat with the launch of so many new hatchbacks from different manufacturers in India. The carmaker wants to push the sales of the Swift despite it doing decent numbers. Hopefully, the new limited edition should push the sales of the current model before the next-gen Swift arrives. It is currently in the development stages and will take some time to be launched in India.
