The much awaited AMT variant of Swift Dzire from Maruti Suzuki has finally been launched in India for Rs 8.39 lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi). The company has offered the AMT gearbox for the very first time on its diesel trim of top selling sedan. Speaking more on the occasion, Mr R S Kalsi, Executive Director Marketing & Sales, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, “Auto Gear Shift, a two-pedal technology, enables customers to drive with comfort and convenience, especially in congested city conditions. This convenience is available to them at an attractive price, without any compromise on fuel efficiency. Maruti Suzuki introduced the AGS technology in India with Celerio and we currently offer it in Alto K10 and WagonR also. It has been very well accepted by customers. We are delighted to now offer Auto Gear Shift technology in DZire diesel as well.”

Under the hood, the Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire AMT comes with the existing 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine that generates about 74bhp of power and 190Nm of torque. The front wheel drive sedan gets a Magnetii Marelli-sourced AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) system. The company prefers to call this as Auto Gear Shift (AGS) technology.

In terms of features, the Swift Dzire ZDi with AMT offers ABS with EBD, Dual Front airbags, push button start, alloy wheels and climate control system. The new variant is expected to emerge as a strong competitor against the Tata Zest with AMT option. Being a best-seller in its segment, the new addition is expected to further boost up Maruti Suzuki’s sales numbers.
