It is well known that Maruti is in the process of launching its Swift 2011 in the country. Though the introduction of the new 2011 Swift hatchback has been delayed from the actual date, due to the 14 day long strike of the workers at the Manesar plant, unconfirmed reports indicate that Maruti Suzuki will unveil its Swift 2011 this August.

The 2011 Swift model, like its currently running version, will be made available in both petrol and diesel variants. India’s largest passenger car manufacturer’s refreshed 2011 model of Swift hatchback is expected to be more fuel efficient than the current model of Swift. The popular and massively successful Maruti Suzuki Swift will come with cosmetic changes such as bigger and powerful head lamps and tail lamps. Maruti will again rely on the tried and tested K series engine for its new Swift.

The K12 engine in the new Swift is expected to give 90 bhp of power which is more than the existing hatchback model of Swift. We have seen a few days back that these K series engines have crossed the magical figure of 10 lakh since their introduction in 2008, and there is definitely something in them which makes it an ideal choice in the Indian road conditions.

Talking about the mileage of petrol variant of new Swift, it will deliver around 20 kmpl as certified by ARAI. This fuel efficiency is 2.1 kmpl more then the present Swift.

On the other hand, the diesel version of the new Maruti Suzuki Swift will also offer increased fuel economy of 23.8 kmpl, which is 2.8 kmpl more as compared to the existing Swift model. The 2011 Swift diesel will be equipped with 1.3L DDiS engine.
