Maruti Suzuki India is all set to launch the much-awaited compact crossover- the SX4 S-Cross in the Indian car market in early 2015. The crossover will directly rival against the likes of Toyota Etios Cross, Fiat Avventura crossover and the upcoming Hyundai Elite i20 crossover. Adding to it, the company is also contemplating a sub-4 metre SUV for the Indian market. Codenamed as YBA, the sub-compact SUV will compete against the likes of Ford EcoSport and upcoming cars from Volkswagen, Honda, Nissan, etc.

If media reports are to be believed, the S-Cross SX4 will be equipped with HID headlights with an integrated LED daytime running lamp. The front fascia of the car gets skid-guard in silver paint, new fog lamps with chrome inserts on the enclosures, and small air dam.

It is speculated that the Suzuki S-Cross SX4 would be offered in diesel fuel options only. The oil burners are likely to be the 1.6-litre MJD producing 120bhp and a 1.3-litre Fiat-sourced MJD that produces 89bhp of power. However, we believe that the company might add a 1.4-litre petrol engine which also does its duty in the Ertiga MPV and Ciaz mid-sized sedan.

A six-speed manual gearbox would be paired to 1.6-litre diesel unit, while the 5-speed gearbox is expected to pair with 1.3L MJD. The petrol unit might also get a CVT option. The company is expected to offer an optional AllGrip all-wheel drive system.
