      Maruti Suzuki S-Cross spotted undergoing road tests, launch expected soon

      The S-Cross, very first crossover from Maruti Suzuki has been much awaited one for launch in the domestic market. Maruti Suzuki S-Cross based on the yesteryear SX4 sedan platform had been showcased at the Auto Expo event held earlier this year. The S-Cross with its stunning design had generated a lot of interest among visitors back then. Recently, sources have managed to capture images of the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross being tested on local streets, thereby hinting on a possible launch sometime soon.

      As seen in spy shots, the S-Cross from Maruti Suzuki sports two-piece horizontal slat grills unlike the three-piece slats seen in the international trim. At the Auto Expo event the vehicle sported smart roof rails, but the on-test version lacked it, but neverthless the production version may actually come with a smart rood rails. As reported earlier, the upcoming Maruti Suzuki S-Cross is likely to be avialable in petrol as well as diesel trims. A 1.6 Liter Multijet engine may be used in the diesel trim and shall be capable of delivering about 120 Ps of power with 320 Nm of torque. The Petrol version is also likely to be powered by a similar 1.6 Liter engine that is capable of generating about 120 Ps of power with about 156 Nm of torque output figures.

      As stated in earlier reports, the upcoming Maruti Suzuki S-Cross engines may be mated to 6-speed manual gearbox. It was also said that the crossover vehicle may be available in AWD option apart from the regular two wheel drive option. Maruti Suzuki is believed to have designed the upcoming car compliant to all safety norms, the trim displayed at the Auto Expo event reportedly had received 5-star Euro NCAP rating for its overall safety. The one seen at the event also sported 16-inch alloy wheels, LED daytime running lamps, black cladding and scuff plates. Maruti Suzuki is likely to offer the all new S-Cross under the Rs. 10 Lakhs segment, though the company has not yet spoken about the same.
