Maruti Suzuki S-Cross facelift to be launched in India tomorrow

The facelifted Maruti Suzuki S-Cross will be available with only the 1.3-litre diesel engine (90bhp, 200Nm) this time. The 1.6-litre diesel unit is expected to be removed from the crossover's powertrain options. The 1.3-litre mill will get the Smart Hybrid Vehicle from Suzuki (SHVS) technology, which is already available in Ciaz and the Ertiga.

In terms of physical appearance, the significant changes are clear up front. The fascia of the S-Cross gets a bold new design. The grille features thick chrome surrounds and vertical slats. It is flanked by redesigned headlamps with eye-brow DRLs and LED projectors. The chiseled bonnet and the bumper give the S-Cross a muscular look. From the sides, the upcoming car is similar to the current model. Nonetheless, it now rides on wider 215/60 R16 tyres, up from the earlier 205/60 R16. These feature new two-tone machine-finished alloy wheels too. At the rear, the revamped car sports LED tail lamps adding to the appeal.

At present, all the 280 plus Nexa showrooms across India are accepting bookings for the upcoming Maruti S-Cross at an initial amount of Rs 11,000. The new S-Cross will continue to rival against the Hyundai Creta, Ford EcoSport, and the newly launched Tata Nexon. The S-Cross should have an edge over its competitors with the mild-hybrid technology. It is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 8 lakhs to Rs 10 lakhs.
