Maruti Suzuki has been creating quite some suspense about the new crossover. It has been christened as S-Cross and is expected to be launched in the last week of January 2015. The crossover market is a highly lucrative one and is all set to witness a couple of models from Maruti. The S-Cross will be followed closely by the much-awaited XA Alpha mini SUV, which is expected by the end of 2015. Definitely, this year is expected to be quite an eventful one for the brand with a couple of launches in the Indian automobile sector.
The S-Cross is based on the Suzuki S4 platform and will have both, petrol and diesel variants. It has been doing the rounds in the American and European market for quite some time now. The S-Cross is expected to take on the likes of Ford EcoSport as well as Renault Duster, once launched. This car is not a full-fledged SUV and has a bold appearance, plastic claddings and smooth graphics. The car comes with a spacious cabin and has a seating capacity of five adults. The interior design will have the cues of existing Maruti models.
Under the hood, it is powered by a 1.6 litre four cylinder mill, capable of producing 120 PS of power and a torque output of 156 Nm. The S-Cross will also be apt enough for driving on challenging roads. Indeed, there has been quite some hype with regards of this car in 2014. It is expected that the car will perform in the segment of crossovers.
