Maruti Suzuki India Limited, the country's largest passenger car maker, has reported a fall of 12 .6 per cent in its total sales for the month of June 2013 at 84,455 units. During the corresponding period of 2012, the auto maker delivered 96,597 units in the Indian auto market. In an official statement, the company said that during the month, it registered domestic sales of 77,002 units, marking a fall of 7.8 per cent as against 83,531 units delivered during June, 2012.
The exports in June 2013 dipped by 43 per cent to 7,453 units over 13,066 units reported during the year-ago period. The demand for Maruti Suzuki's mini segment cars, including M800, A-Star, Alto and WagonR, dipped by 8.4 per cent, amounting to 31,314 units over 34,198 units in the same month last year. In compact segment, which comprise the Estilo, Swift and Ritz models, the auto maker came up with a fall of 7.2 per cent at 20,996 units when compared with 22,624 units sold in June 2012.
It must be noted that the demand for Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire also reduced by 8.7 per cent to 12,548 units as against 13,741 units delivered during June 2012. The mid-size sedan SX4 also witnessed not so good times by finding just 314 buyers with a fall of 23 per cent from 408 units in the corresponding month of 2012. The luxury sedan of the company, Kizashi found no buyer during June 2013 as against the sales of 6 units in June 2012.
The sales of Maruti Suzuki's utility vehicles reduced by 11.4 per cent to 4,997 units as against 5,638 units sold in the corresponding period of 2012. The demand for vans reduced by 1.2 per cent to 6,833 units over 6,916 units sold in June 2012. The statement further said that the total passenger sales stood at 65,172 units in June 2013, presenting a fall of 8.2 per cent against 70,977 units sold in same tenure of last year.
