The Maruti Suzuki Baleno RS has been launched in India at Rs 8.69 lakh (ex-showrrom Delhi). The hot hatch now competes with the Fiat Abarth Punto and the Volkswagen Polo GT in the performance oriented affordable hatchback segment in our country.
The Baleno RS was first showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi. The car retains the overall shape and design of the regular Baleno hatchback. However, there are some cosmetic changes to differentiate it from the standard car. These include chiseled bumpers, black alloy wheels and a spoiler at the back to show off its sporty nature.
The most important thing that makes the Baleno worthy of the RS badge is its powerful engine. The Baleno RS is powered by a 1.0-litre BoosterJet petrol mill, producing 100bhp of power and 150Nm of torque. This powerplant comes mated to a five-speed manual transmission only.
The Baleno RS becomes the most powerful hatchback offering from Maruti Suzuki. It will be offered only in one variant based on the top-end Alpha trim, packed with all the features. In fact, the interior layout remains the same, but there are some additional features like different upholstery, aluminium finished pedals etc. All aimed at adding to the delight of prospective enthusiast buyers.
