      Maruti Suzuki launches a refreshed model of WagonR at Rs. 3.58 lakhs

      The leader of country’s passenger car market, Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has launched a reworked version of its WagonR hatchback. Renowned as one of the top selling models in the country, the refreshed model of WagonR has come as delight for the Indian car enthusiasts. Along with retaining its core credentials like brilliant performance and unparalleled city handling, the recently introduced model provides an 8 per cent enhanced fuel economy to the customers. The interiors and exteriors of the model are also provided with few cosmetic changes, which are sure to strike right chords with the hearts of Indian buyers. New WagonR has been offered with a base price tag of Rs. 3.58 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi).

      At the launch ceremony, the Vice President (Marketing) of MSIL, Manohar Bhat said, “Wagon R is not just a bestseller for us but is also among top five models of the industry. The changes introduced on the New Wagon R are in line with the customer feedback received through our regular customer engagement programmes. The new Wagon R is over 8% more fuel efficient, sportier, OBD-II compliant, contemporary in design and laced with utility features. We are confident that customers will appreciate the refreshments in the new Wagon R and we it would help to strengthen brand Wagon R.”

      With an impressive mileage of 20.51 kmpl, the K-10 engine of new WagonR delivers brilliant performance with controlled emission. Interestingly, the company has recorded cumulative sales of more than 12.34 lakh units of WagonR since its launch in the Indian auto market. Reportedly, WagonR happens to be the 3 model in MSIL’s product portfolio to cross 10 lakh mark, in terms of sales. In order to lure a large number of buyers, the model is available in both LPG and CNG versions.

      The engineers of MSIL have achieved this superb mileage through several factors, which together brought down the friction and improved the combustion. With the incorporation of low viscosity transmission oil, the new WagonR demands less maintenance and offers smooth shifts between the gears. Owing to its OBD-II compliant feature, the new model comes future ready, as it indicates the driver in case of any breakdown.

      Coming to exteriors of the new model, the notable changes include a new U-shaped front fascia, which carries the ‘S’ signature. The front fascia of the model is made compatible with the Suzuki U- design family. Little usage of chrome on the front grille has been provided in LXi and VXi models, which add to the appealing looks of the model.

      The interiors of recently launched WagonR are also improved from the current generation model. The refreshed model features dual tone colour scheme (beige and black) at interiors. In VSi trim, the auto maker has offered pure beige seats, whereas in Lx and Lxi models, users are provided with a combination of beige and black. The top-end version, VXi trim, has been incorporated with new eagle wings music system, which supports USB and AUX-in compatibility.

      In order to offer more space to women in the new WagonR, the interior designers of the company have fitted an additional storage box in the instrumental panel. The storage box has been ergonomically designed, which facilitates passengers to store cans, knick-knacks, accessories and other utility items. The new WagonR also features a day/night inside rear view mirror, which reduces the reflections and glare at night.

      Coming to under-the-hood specifications of the new model, the recently introduced WagonR comes assimilated with a K-series engine, which churns out a peak power of 66 bhp at 6200 rpm with a maximum torque of 90 Nm at 3500 rpm. With this output, the new WagonR delivers an astonishing mileage of 20.51 kmpl, as certified by CMVR Rule 115A.

      MSIL has offered several vibrant colour options in its new WagonR, which includes Passion Red, Ecru Beige, Glistening Grey, Superior White, Breeze Blue, Silky Silver and Baker’s Chocolate. Keeping it safe on the pocket of Indian buyers, the new WagonR has been offered within a price range of Rs. 3.58 lakhs to 4.13 lakhs. The Lx trim is tagged with a price of Rs. 3.58 lakhs, whereas the LXi model is sold for Rs. 3.88 lakhs. New Wagon R LXi (CNG) and VXi models can be bought for Rs. 4.42 lakhs and Rs. 4.13 lakhs, respectively (all prices are ex-showroom Delhi).
