Much before launch of Maruti Suzuki India’s highly anticipated mid-sized sedan, Ciaz in India, the company has released a teaser video in order to generate curiosity about the sedan. Slated to launch towards the end of September, the company has already begun promoting Ciaz. A peculiar way of marketing, the video showcases a cool cat, from what it looks, the company aims at projecting the sedan as a worthy option in its segment. Claimed to be longer, wider and capacious than other cars in its segment, Ciaz is being posed as a potential new entrant in C segment, bragging segment best dimensions.

Displayed earlier this year at the 2014 Auto Expo Show in concept form, Ciaz has undergone final touch ups and its production has already commenced at MSI manufacturing unit located in Manesar. Rumours had been doing the rounds that Ciaz will replace SX4 sedan in domestic market, however as per the new reports, the vehicle will fill the slot between Honda City and Toyota Corolla, hence inducting a new segment.

Expected to be offered in both petrol and diesel versions, the petrol range of new Ciaz is likely to house a 1.4 litre powertrain that is good for a top power of 90 PS. This is the same unit that serves Maruti Ertiga MPV. As for the diesel variants, the 1.3 litre Multijet diesel mill sourced from Fiat will be loaded under the bonnet. Offered in two states of tune, MSI will employ the 90 PS version of 1.3 litre diesel engine into the Ciaz to offer enhanced performance. A five-speed manual transmission will be synchronized to petrol and diesel trims, speculations are rife that an automatic gearbox xoudl also be offered. Possibility of an AMT version is also likely since response received for Celerio AMT is unprecedented; hence MSI could contemplate about this option also.
