Pegged as 2012's most awaited car, the soon-to-be launched Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 is being cited by top industry experts to be filling in the shoes of the iconic '800' model for the company. Upon its launch, the car will be pitched in a direct tussle against the likes of Hyundai Eon and the top variant of Tata Nano. The incredible reception received by the Alto 800 from the Indian public is surely going to trouble MSIL's closest rival, the Korean auto giant, Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL). HMIL has reaped in tremendous success from its small compact Eon, which took away the market humbly from the likes of current variant of Alto and Chevrolet Spark.

The upcoming 2012 Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 flaunts the company's coming of age design concept and is believed to be its most fuel efficient product till date. The latest car from the stables of MSIL will come fitted with a 796 cc petrol motor that can deliver a peak power-torque performance of 47 bhp and 69 Nm, respectively. Further, those willing to shell out an extra Rs. 50,000, can get a factory fitted CNG kit on the new Alto 800. Coming to the inside cabin features, the new car comes trimmed with power steering, power windows and an Air Conditioning (AC) System.

MSIL has kept the bare necessities and seems to have focussed entirely on refinement of engine performance and delivering better mileage. As per the reports, the new Alto can run for more than 22 km on a single litre of petrol, while the CNG version delivers an astounding mileage of more than 30 km per kg of CNG.

Considering that an odd 6,500 Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 units have already been booked, the future seems more than secure for the present champion of the Indian automobile industry. The new MSIL product is certain to break all the records and possible milestones in the country and the car lovers will surely be looking forward to get behind the wheel of the most anticipated car of the year.
