The latest tall boy from Maruti Suzuki, the Ignis has been generating a lot of interest even before it launch on January 13. On the launch day itself, the company had received around 6000 bookings for the vehicle and by now, the numbers have well crossed beyond the 10,000 mark. Sold via the Nexa outlets, the premium quotient has also seen a large number of potential buyers being attracted to the product.

Maruti Suzuki Ignis is available in petrol and diesel options. One of its biggest USP that has further attracted buyers is the presence of an AMT option in both the variants. Owing to growing demand for the vehicle, reports indicate that the waiting period has already surged to around two to three months. Though initially there may be slight cannibalisation of existing models like Baleno and Swift, the Ignis will further expand to create its own segment of buyers, thereby helping the automaker further expanding and strengthening its position in the country.

The Ignis from Maruti Suzuki is powered by a 1.2-litre four cylinder petrol engine that generates 83bhp of power and 115Nm of torque. As for the diesel version, it gets a 1.3-litre multijet that generates 74bhp of power and 190Nm of torque. Five speed manual transmission is standard in both the variants, however the AMT option is only restricted to Delta and the Zeta variants.
