Maruti Suzuki India Limited, the country’s largest passenger car maker, has developed a special edition variant of its Ertiga Multi Purpose Vehicle (MPV), called ‘Feliz’. The company is believed to be celebrating its popular model’s first anniversary in the domestic auto market with the new Ertiga Feliz.

Maruti Suzuki India is expected to introduce the special edition Ertiga Feliz in the top end VXi and VDi models. The new Ertiga Feliz flaunts ultra modish body graphics and sports a generous use of chrome on its exterior body, including front grille, and fog lamps. Further, silver painted and colour coordinated Outer Rear View Mirrors (ORVMs) and a rear spoiler score great points for the vehicle’s overall style statement. On the interiors front, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Feliz sports blackwood finish on the dashboard, instrument cluster and AC vents. There are special window sills, a back seat multi-pocket organiser, along with ‘Feliz’ embossed pillows and door mats on offer.

The engine options remain the same in the Ertiga Feliz. The petrol trim is powered by the 1.4 litre K-Series engine, whereas diesel model comes fitted with the 1.3 litre DDiS oil burner. The special edition Ertiga Feliz model is expected to come with a slightly beefed up price as compared to its normal models, owing to the presence of additional modifications.

At present, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga competes against the likes of Mahindra Xylo and Nissan Evalia in the MPV segment of Indian auto market. General Motors is set to pitch its Chevrolet Enjoy MPV against the market leader Ertiga on May 9, 2013. Therefore, it is going to be interesting to see when the company introduces its special edition Ertiga Feliz model and will it be able to draw the limelight away from Chevrolet Enjoy in the domestic passenger car market.

Interestingly, Maruti Suzuki had rolled out its Swift DZire Regal model within days of the launch of stiff rival Amaze sedan, in order to keep tabs on the popularity of Honda car. Therefore, the country’s number one car maker could launch its Ertiga Feliz sometime around the arrival of Enjoy, so as to lure domestic buyers away from the Chevrolet stores.
