      Maruti Suzuki enters into collaboration with Punjab govt. for driving schools

      India’s number one passenger car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki, has gone ahead to enter into a collaboration with Punjab government for setting up 32 driving institutes throughout the entire state. This initiative has been launched by Maruti Suzuki keeping in mind the corporates social responsibility (CSR) programme, a statement on April 10th said.

      A spokesperson from Maruti Suzuki India Limited described some details about the institute. "The institutes will offer high quality driving training, using driving simulators, class room instruction and practical training. Once fully operational, the driving training institutes will be able to train around 10,000 learners in first phase, including women and the underprivileged, annually," he said.

      According to the spokesman, an investment of Rs. 3 crore will be made by Maruti Suzuki in order to improve the youth employability in the state of Punjab. The Punjab Transport Commissioner Ashwini Kumar was involved in the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with R.S. Kalsi, the Executive Director of Maruti Suzuki India Limited.

      It is being said that these Drive Training Institutes will be situated in close proximity to the automated test tracks. These tracks will also be used by RTOs for conducting driving test for those seeking licenses.
