Maruti Suzuki, a manufacturer popular with the hatchback segment has earned the top position in the utility vehicle segment in July. The numbers have pushed Mahindra to the second place with Maruti selling 17,382 units of the utility vehicles in July in comparison to 15,962 units sold by Mahindra in the same month. Overall, Mahindra still holds the top spot in terms of sales with 71,871 units sold between April to July 2016, in comparison to 56,730 units sold by Maruti in the same period. The Vitara Brezza registering a 151 per cent growth is primarily the reason behind Maruti Suzuki overtaking Mahindra's sales last month.

Owing to its popularity, Maruti Suzuki’s Vitara Brezza currently has a waiting period of about 7 to 9 months depending on its variant. The country’s largest automaker had recently hiked Vitara Brezza prices by about Rs 20,000 and is now priced between Rs 7.19 lakh – Rs 9.88 lakh as against the previous price of Rs 6.99 - Rs 9.68 lakh (ex-Showroom, New Delhi).
