As the country’s largest automaker, Maruti Suzuki gears up to introduce the new-gen Dzire in India. IN the meantime, fresh images have surfaced which indicate that the Dzire Tour variant might be upgraded to the current generation model. Until now, the Dzire Tour, sold only with a commercial registration plate was available in the first generation model. So far, the carmaker had only planned to introduce a next-gen model for private buyers. But their new move to upgrade the Tour variant to the current form will keep commercial operators also interested in the vehicle.
The Dzire Tour in its current form is expected to be offered at a base trim level. It will continue to be powered by a 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine that generates 74bhp of power at 4,000 rpm and 190Nm of peak torque at 2,000rpm. The modest diesel engine will come mated to a five-speed manual transmission. Though there are no official plans to introduce a petrol version anytime soon, if introduced, it might be the 1.2-litre K-series petrol engine that generates 86bhp of power at 6,000 rpm and 114Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. A petrol engine with a CNG alternative might help the automaker revive its sales, which it is losing out to the Hyundai Xcent.
One of the major upgrades for the Tour variant would be the compact design from the second-generation, along with body-coloured bumpers and door handles. The one seen in pictures, also gets a black and beige theme for the interior, which indeed looks refreshing as compared to the older one. It is likely that Maruti Suzuki might introduce the new model post the arrival of the much awaited new-gen Dzire in the country. Though there are no details on the pricing aspect, we believe it to be priced close to the current range.
