      Maruti Suzuki Desert Storm, India's longest motorsport rally flagged off today

      The 16th edition of Maruti Suzuki Desert Storm has been flagged off from Noida today. The country’s longest motorsport rally will culminate in Golden City of Jaisalmer on 23 March 2018. Motorsport enthusiasts from all over the country anticipate this time of the year when the best of machines and human endurance is put to test through extremes of the Thar Desert in Rajasthan.

      The 2018 Maruti Suzuki Desert Storm is split into four categories - Xtreme, Moto, Xplore and Endure. The Xtreme category includes 4x4 prepared vehicles, Moto for bikes, Xplore for 2WD vehicles in time speed distance format and Endure features 4WD vehicles in time speed distance format. Across each category, participants will engage in real-time battle across 11 stages in five days and cover a distance of about 2,500kms with a timed section of 900 kilometers. The competition will test the mental and physical capabilities of the contestants over the course of the rally.

      Interestingly, this year the Maruti Suzuki Desert Storm Rally witnessed a record 250 entries. The event is organised by Northern Motorsport and will be managed by 200 officials, 70 mobile radio stations and 11 safety vehicles.
