Maruti Suzuki India will contribute Rs 2 crore to the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund for victims of the recent floods in Tamil Nadu. "The contribution is to strengthen the relief and rebuilding efforts of the government for victims of the recent floods in Tamil Nadu", the car market leader said in a statement. The decision comes at a good time when assistance to the needy is of prime importance.
Earlier, Bajaj group of companies had announced a contribution of Rs 10 crore towards flood relief operations in Tamil Nadu. The unprecedented rains in Chennai and adjoining areas earlier this month led to huge production losses for auto makers and suppliers. Automakers like Honda has also announced plans to initiate special camps to repair flood affected cars in the region.
