Maruti Suzuki Ciaz to get a special edition?

The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz has been recently spied with a LED DRL strip on the front bumper, and white racing strips on the bonnet. The spy shot of the car hints at a possible special edition of the Ciaz to celebrate the vehicle’s first successful year in the Indian market. Launched in October 2014, the Ciaz has turned out to be a huge success for the company. It, currently, is the second largest selling car in its segment.

The spy picture of the car seems to have taken its inspiration from the Ciaz ‘Aero’ version that was unveiled at the 2015 Bangkok Motor Show. Though the spied model misses out on several updates that we saw on the Aero edition such as side skirts and bumpers with diffuser-like element at rear and a big rear spoiler. Inside the cabin, the Aero version features a GPS navigation system, touchscreen LCD infotainment system and leather seat upholstery. And since the spotted car has stand-alone units of the DRLs, we can expect Maruti Suzuki to offer it as an after-market accessory.

The Ciaz special edition will continue to be powered with the 1.4-litre K-Series petrol and 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engines that do duty on the regular models. Both the powertrains are mated with a 5-speed manual transmission, though a 4-speed automatic gearbox is also available on petrol trim.
