Maruti Suzuki’s Ciaz sedan has been a decent performer in terms of sales in its segment. A recent near-50 per cent reduction in excise duty on mid-size sedan, courtesy of the hybrid system, has brought down car prices by a considerable margin. As per National Electric Mobility Mission Plan (NEMMP), excise duty on Ciaz diesel featuring a micro-hybrid system, has been brought down to 12.5 percent from 24 percent.
Post the reduction in excise reduction, the ex-showroom prices for the Ciaz SHVS now ranges between Rs 55,000 – Rs 69,000 depending on the variants. Here are the new variant wise prices –
Maruti Ciaz VDi – Rs 7.68 (previous Rs 8.23)
Maruti Ciaz VDi (O) – Rs 7.81 (previous Rs 8.38)
Maruti Ciaz VDi+ – Rs 8.22 (previous Rs 8.82)
Maruti Ciaz ZDi – Rs 8.89 (previous Rs 9.53)
Maruti Ciaz ZDi+ – Rs 9.49 (previous Rs 10.18)
The prices for the petrol variants have not been reduced. The Ciaz SHVS diesel is powered by a 1.3-liter DDiS engine which generates 89bhp of power and 200Nm of torque. The decently powered engine comes mated to a five-speed manual transmission. The SHVS technology in the Ciaz combines integrated starter generator, brake energy recovery system and an auto start-stop system to increase fuel efficiency. As per ARAI rating, the Ciaz SHVS claims to return a fuel efficiency of 28.09 kmpl.
