The test mule of the Ciaz facelift is a right-hand drive model targeted for the Indian, Asia, Latin American and Chinese markets. The test mule hid re-designed bumpers both fore and aft. The car was spotted riding on wheels similar in design to the ones sold in India, wrapped in Apollo Allnac tyres. Under the camouflage, the Ciaz facelift hid a new grille as well. Now, this could be a newly designed grille which was first seen on the S-Cross facelift sold in the International market. There are chrome door handlebars visible as well.

The headlight design looks unchanged and the projector unit from the current Ciaz has also been retained. The tail lights too are of the same shape as the current car, albeit with a new lighting signature. Other body lines and creases have also been carried forward. Being a mid-life update, the Ciaz facelift is expected to carry a refreshed interior with added features list.

Engine wise, the Suzuki Ciaz will retain the two four-cylinder petrol units with 92 bhp and 122 bhp power respectively. The diesel powertrain with 90 bhp will also be available. In India, the Ciaz facelift will continue to use the 1.4-litre K-series petrol engine producing 94 bhp and 134 Nm. The tried and tested 1.3-litre diesel with 89 bhp and 200 Nm will be available with the (ISG) hybrid system. The transmission options would remain the same - a five-speed manual and a four-speed automatic. The diesel range could be joined by a new 1.5-litre diesel unit specially developed for India. It will have the same output as the outgoing 1.6-litre, but as a downsized engine, it will put the car in a lower tax and price range.

The facelifted Ciaz is likely to be introduced in India sometime next year. It will continue its competition against the other C-segment sedans like the updated Honda City, Volkswagen Vento, Skoda Rapid and the new generation Hyundai Verna.
